Welcome Alexa Ellie Heiner with history of names

April Fool's Day, the day our last and final daughter has joined our family.  As we discussed names for our daughter, Cindy came up with the idea to name our new daughter "Ellie"  This middle name is a combination of her Grandma Syrett's name, Ellen, and her Grandma Heiner's name Julie.  For the sake of keeping our records straight Alaysha's middle name is Shay after her father's middle name also Shay.  Jerick is named for both his grandfather's names Rick and Dan; hence JeRICK LanDAN.  Little Aleena shares the same middle name as her mother Kay. Alaysha, Aleena, and Alexa have no other significance other than we thought they were unique, beautiful names that started with an A and ended with an A.

Shiner's Hospital - Day Off

Today, we kept the kids out of school, traveling to Shiner's Hospital to meet Mickey Mouse.  It wasn't to much of a chore to convince the children to come to the hospital rather than attend class at their elementary.  I posed the question, "Would you rather go and set at Shiner's in a chair for hours on end, bored to death or go to school tomorrow?"  Jerick wasted little time in responding, "Go to Shiner's and be bored!"  I am not sure what this reflects on his education.  I hope it only means they get a day off.

All three kids loved being at the hospital in the play area.  Riding bikes, scooters, and cars around on the hard wood floors is a rare treat for any child.  This much open space with wheeled vehicles is far to tempting for children, who speed from one side of the floor racing to the other, often meeting with a collision in the center.

The ploy behind the sudden visit to Shiner's was to allow Aleena a visit with her beloved, Mickey Mouse.  Although she was excited at the in-person physical encounter with her childhood friend, she was far more excited to get to drive recklessly around the children's area of the upper hospital floor.

Cooped Up

This past week has been a long an challenging week.  With Aleena's cast change approaching on Tuesday we have restricted kids to the house with no friends since Alaysha's friend's sister has RSV.  Aleena has to be healthy for the anesthesia for the cast change.

We have allowed the two oldest children outside to play in the recently fallen snow while I shovel the walks and clear the gutters.  Alaysha always being a huge help retrieved her shovel and began to help me clear the walks continuing to work hard until the walks were all cleared.  Alaysha has always been a hard worker who loves to help dad get his chores done.  Jerick as usual was willing to help once he discovered dad was taking Alaysha to get a special treat for helping, then the snow was flying like crazy.

Summary Of Activities

Today I wanted to sum up some of our family's events that have taken place:

Cindy- Still very expecting.  She is looking forward to the baby coming, but very nervous to have a two year old in a cast and have surgery for delivery of the baby.

Alaysha - Tried out for her school play, Twinderella.  She wasn't picked for the lead roles, but is very excited to get to be a part of it all.

Jerick - Doing very well in school.  Today he made his own dinner which consisted of potato chips, peperoni and a cheese tortilla.  I guess if he eats it huh?

Trent - I just discovered blogging.  I am a novice at this modern day tool, but hope to get it learned.

Today I took the kids for a walk/bike ride.  We took the baby and put her in the jogger and started out for a 2 mile journey.  They loved being outside in the fresh air and being free to ride. Aleena continued to hide under her blanket, peeking out just long enough to ask, "where laysha" or "where Jerick"  After being repeatable told just up ahead, she would tuck back under her blanket and giggle.

Some of the fun activities we did before Aleena's surgery include going to Provo River with Cori and Richard, Lava Hot Spring in a chilling -4 degrees, family pictures, and temple square.

Pour little Aleena fell in the changing room
and smashed her upper lip.

Took a hike to the Provo River.  Kids loved
Climbing the water falls.

Kids sat around the fire and colored.
Little Aleena always wanted the "puppy Chair"

Aleena loves spagetti

Smiles and fun by the river
